At the June AGM of the Somersetshire Coal Canal Society the officers reported on another successful year.  The finances are in in good shape, membership increasing and events well attended.

Work Party volunteers have continued with the restoration work on canal structures such as Terminus Bridge masonry, (near Paulton Basin) together with conservation of the Combe Hay flight of locks.  Members of the Society are liaising with B&NES on the revised Local Plan in order to protect the historic line of the Canal.

The Society recognised the major contributions of two supporters by awarding Lifetime Membership to Terry Fisher and Brian Gould.  The photos show the presentations by Derrick Hunt, Chair of the SCCS to Terry Fisher and daughters; and to Brian Gould.  Their strong support has been a major factor in the Society’s successful progress.
